NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard and other agencies are continuing to respond to a crude oil spill near Lake Ecaille, Friday.
Recovery efforts have yielded approximately 375 gallons of oily water mixture and 250 bags of soiled sorbents. ES&H, an oil spill response organization, has deployed approximately 3,000 feet of hard containment boom to prevent further impact to unaffected areas.
Aircrews from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and Hilcorp Energy will continue to conduct over-flights to monitor oil recovery operations.
The Coast Guard, NOAA, Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinators Office and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are also overseeing the response.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
