Coast Guard, other agencies continue search for Lynn woman

BOSTON — Coast Guard crews, state and local agencies are continuing the search for Marina Kohn, a 22-year old from Lynn, Mass., at the mouth of the Merrimack River.

An HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod completed a first light search Wednesday morning. A 25-foot boat crew and 47-foot boat crew from Coast Guard Station Merrimack River, who searched throughout the night, are still on scene searching for Kohn.

In addition to the Coast Guard, the Newburyport harbormaster and police department and the Massachusetts State Police are searching. A state police helicopter is also en route.

The search area extends from the mouth of the Merrimack River to nearly four miles outside of the river and up to the Interstate 95 Bridge.

The Coast Guard, Good Samaritans and state and local agencies began searching for Kohn after receiving a report that she and seven other people were swept off a sandbar by the current.
