Great Inagua, Bahamas – Rear Adm. William D. Baumgartner, Seventh Coast Guard District commander, and The Hon. Perry Christie, Prime minister of The Bahamas, took part in the opening ceremony for the new OPBAT (Operation Bahamas, Turks and Caicos) hangar in Great Inagua, Bahamas, March 21, 2013.
The ceremony also honored the partnership between the United States and the Bahamas.
OPBAT is a combined Coast Guard, DEA and Government of the Bahamas partnership to combat drug smuggling to and from the Bahamas. The previous OPBAT hangar was destroyed by Hurricane Ike in 2008.
