Coast Guard Opens Comment Period For Proposed Change To Operation Of Bridge In Ocean City, Md.

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Coast Guard has opened a public comment period for its proposal to temporarily change the operation of the US 50 Bridge across the isle of Wight Bay (Sinepuxent Bay).

The proposal would close the bridge to navigation in order to facilitate extensive rehabilitation and to maintain the bridge’s operational integrity. To facilitate the repairs, the drawbridge will be locked in the closed-to-navigation position from 8 a.m. on Jan. 7, 2008 until 5 p.m. on Feb. 21, 2008.

A copy of the Docket CGD05-07-100 was published in the Federal Register on Nov. 8, 2007.

Parties interested in submitting comments on the proposed change are encouraged to do so by submitting their views, in writing, to the Office of the Commander (dbp), Fifth Coast Guard District, 431 Crawford Street, Portsmouth, Va., 23704-5004. Written comments on this proposal must be submitted on or before Dec. 24, 2007.
