St. Petersburg, FL – The Coast Guard said Tuesday night that it is investigating whether two Coast Guardsman stole a clown statue in Sarasota.
A spokesman for Sector St. Petersburg said that the matter was being investigate by Coast Guard Intelligence.
The two are assigned to a buoy tender that was in Sarasota at the time the statue was stolen. Neither was identified and they have not yet been questioned in the theft.
The statue, a fiberglass clown called “Ra Ra Shish Boom Ba”, is among several created as a public art project to raise funds for hospice care.
