MIAMI — The Coast Guard and Navy participated in the Salute to Veterans event Tuesday as part of the 29th Annual Fleet Week at Fort Lauderdale.
The Salute to Veterans event connects yesterday’s veterans with today’s generation of heroes. Active duty service members mingle and visit with veterans.
“History is important and speaking with seasoned veterans gives us a lot of insight into what it means to serve,” said Coast Guard Ensign Sean Yanez, prevention officer at Coast Guard Sector Miami. “It’s a real honor to be among true heroes and it’s truly been a humbling experience breaking bread with them.”
