CLEVELAND — The U.S. Coast Guard and multiple agencies are searching for a diver in the Niagara River near Buffalo, New York, Friday.

Just after 1 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Buffalo were notified that a diver went missing during a dive in the Niagara River.

Crews from Coast Guard Station Buffalo responded aboard a 45-Foot Response Boat-Medium and began to search. While searching it was discovered that the tender cable had parted. The diver’s secondary dive tanks were also recovered on the waters surface.

Multiple other agencies are searching along with Station Buffalo, including a crew from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit, aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter.
