Coast Guard medically evacuates injured woman from Beaver Island, Mich.

9th Coast Guard District NewsCLEVELAND – A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew medically evacuated an injured 88-year-old woman from Beaver Island, Mich., in Lake Michigan Tuesday evening.

An MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City, Mich., launched after personnel at the Beaver Island Rural Health Center requested a medevac for the woman, who reportedly fainted and hit her head after falling.

The aircrew transported the woman to Charlevoix Airport, and EMS transported her to a local hospital.

The Coast Guard maintains great working relationships with medical personnel at emergency facilities in remote Great Lakes locations, including northern Lake Michigan’s Beaver Island.
