Coast Guard medically evacuates fisherman off South Carolina coast

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 48-year-old male Wednesday approximately 53-miles southeast of Winyah Bay, S.C.

Rescued was Roger King, 48, of Little River, S.C.

The Coast Guard was notified at 1:57 p.m. Wednesday from the fishing vessel Warrior III that a crewmember was in need of a medevac following a possible heart attack. A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah, Ga., HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter air crew and a 41-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Georgetown, S.C., responded to the distress.

The air crew arrived on scene at 4:03 p.m. and airlifted King where he will be transported to Georgetown Medical Center for further medical evaluation.
