Coast Guard medically evacuates crewman near Tatoosh Island

SEATTLE – The Coast Guard medically evacuated an injured crewmember from a tribal fishing vessel that was 38 miles southwest of Tatoosh Island, Wash., near Neah Bay, Wash., at approximately 5:58 p.m.

The Coast Guard was notified 3:48 p.m., Monday that the crewmember, a 44-year-old male, was suffering from chest pains on the 44-foot fishing vessel Atica.

A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles, Wash., hoisted the man using a rescue basket and transported him to Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles where he was transferred to an Airlift Northwest helicopter and taken to Harborview Medical Center, Seattle.
