Coast Guard medically evacuates 61-year-old male

BRUNSWICK, Ga. – The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 61-year-old male approximately six-miles east of St. Simons Island, Ga., Monday.

Medically evacuated was Jeffery Quinn, 61, hometown unknown.

Operational watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Charleston received notification at 1:20 p.m., from crewmembers aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Tarpon stating that the Capt. of the fishing vessel Russel Lee was requesting a medical evacuation for Quinn who had experienced stroke like symptoms on Saturday.

At approximately 1:56 p.m., Coast Guard Station Brunswick launched a rescue boat crew to the scene.

Once on scene at 2:22 p.m., the Coast Guard boat crew transferred Quinn aboard without incident and transferred him to awaiting local emergency medical personnel at the Golden Isles Marina.
