Coast Guard medically evacuates 2nd person from Beaver Island on the same day

CLEVELAND – The U.S. Coast Guard medically evacuated an 82-year-old man, a resident of Beaver Island, Mich., at about 8 p.m., Nov. 28, 2010.

Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City, Mich., launched a rescue crew after Beaver Island Emergency Medical Services contacted the Ninth District Command Center at about 6:45 p.m. and requested assistance.

The man was reportedly exhibiting symptoms of a heart attack.

An emergency medical technician from Beaver Island accompanied the flight crew during the medical evacuation.

The crew transferred the Beaver Island resident safely to Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey, Mich.

This was the second medevac from Beaver Island on Sunday as an Air Station Traverse City aircrew medically evacuated an 89-year-old woman from the island early Sunday morning.
