Coast Guard medevacs woman off cruise ship Carnival Dream

NEW ORLEANS — A Coast Guard helicopter crew medevaced a 48-year-old woman from the cruise ship Carnival Dream 23 miles south of Southwest Pass, Saturday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report of a woman reportedly suffering from kidney related issues and was unconscious with a high blood sugar level.

A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans was directed to respond to the incident.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene and safely hoisted the patient and flew her to Ochsner Baptist Medical Center for further medical treatment.

She was listed in stable condition.
