DETROIT – A sick woman was medically evacuated from a cargo ship by the U.S. Coast Guard, Thursday evening, in north western Lake Huron.
A 53-year-old woman suffering from a rare stomach problem was loosing blood at a rapid rate and required immediate medical attention, but she was stuck on a cargo ship approximately 22 miles off Oscoda, Mich.
At approximately 9:14 a.m. an HH-65 Dolphin Helicopter from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Detroit arrived and the crew took her to the Alpena Hospital in Alpena, Mich.
The victim was listed in stable condition.
