The Coast Guard was notified at about 4 p.m. Tuesday that a passenger aboard the Carnival Pride had become ill and required medical attention ashore. The Coast Guard flight surgeon concurred after preliminary care aboard the ship proved ineffective.
A HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter air crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla., arrived on scene at 7 p.m. and transported the patient ashore to Halifax General Hospital in Daytona Beach.
