Coast Guard medevacs woman from cruise ship Disney Magic 180 miles off Galveston coast

America's Heartland Coast Guard NewsHOUSTON — A woman was medevaced by a Coast Guard helicopter crew from a cruise ship, 180 miles of the Galveston coast, early Saturday morning.

Friday at 9:14 p.m., the captain of the cruise ship, Disney Magic, contacted watchstanders at Sector Houston-Galveston about a 31-year old passenger having health issues.

The watchstanders launched a rescue crew aboard a Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and a Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi HU-25 Guardian jet.

The rescue crew located the cruise ship at 12:44 a.m., hoisted the woman and transported her to awaiting emergency medical services at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
