Coast Guard medevacs woman from cruise ship Carnival Triumph 115 miles off Galveston

65 Houston 2HOUSTON — Coast Guard crews medevaced a 43-year-old woman from a cruise ship about 115 miles southeast of Galveston early Friday morning.

At 3:47 a.m., the crew of the Carnival Triumph contacted Coast Guard  Sector Houston-Galveston requesting a medevac for a passenger suffering from a suspected heart attack.

Watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew shortly after and Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi provided communications and cover with an HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew.

The helicopter arrived on scene at 7:40 a.m. and hoisted the woman and ship’s nurse. The air crew delivered them to EMS, who were standing by at Galveston Scholes International Airport, to take them to University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
