Coast Guard medevacs woman from cruise ship Anthem of the Seas

NEW YORK – A Coast Guard boatcrew medically evacuated a 48-year-old woman experiencing seizures Thursday night 18-miles southeast of Ambrose Sea Buoy.

At approximately 7 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New York received a report stating a woman aboard the cruise ship, Anthem of the Seas, was experiencing seizures.

The command center watchstanders briefed the flight surgeon who recommended a medevac and a rescue crew from Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook was launched.

The crew arrived on scene and safely transferred the woman and a nurse aboard the station 47-foot Motor Lifeboat and brought them to Station Sandy Hook.

The woman was then transferred to EMS, her condition currently is unknown.
