NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 67-year-old woman from a cruise ship approximately 220-miles south of New Orleans late Sunday, Oct. 26 2008.
The Coast Guard received a report from the captain of the Carnival cruise ship Ecstasy at 4 p.m. reporting that a passenger aboard had become ill and required an immediate evacuation from the ship.
Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched a HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew to medevac the woman from the ship. The helicopter arrived on scene, hoisted the woman and an attending nurse and transported them safely to West Jefferson Medical Center.
The condition of the woman is unknown.
