Coast Guard medevacs unresponsive man near Bird Island

SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated an unresponsive man from Bird Island Friday evening.

At 6:02 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Francisco command center received a call from emergency medical services of a man who fell near Bird Island.

A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco responded and safely transported the distressed male to San Francisco International Airport where EMS was waiting.

Boatcrews from Coast Guard Station Golden Gate, Marin County Fire and National Parks Service also responded.
