Coast Guard Medevacs Two Crewmembers From Fishing Boat

KODIAK, Alaska – The Coast Guard medically evacuated two crewmembers from the fishing vessel Ocean Peace Wednesday.

The Coast Guard received a request to medevac a 35-year old male that was reportedly suffering from chest pains onboard the 200-foot fishing vessel. A second request was made to medevac 36-year old male with a severely injured hand while the rescue helicopter was on scene.

A Coast Guard MH-60 “Jayhawk” rescue helicopter was launched from Air Station Kodiak at 1:10 p.m. and arrived on scene at 4:27 p.m. The crewmembers were safely hoisted by the rescue helicopter crew and were transported to King Salmon at 6:38 p.m. where they were transferred by Guardian Flight to Anchorage.
