HOUSTON — The Coast Guard medevaced a man suffering from severe injuries near Galveston, Tuesday.
Watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston received a call at approximately 1:25 a.m. from the shrimp fishing vessel St. Joseph 7, reporting that the master of the vessel had been injured by the vessel’s winch approximately 70 miles south of Galveston.
A MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew from Coast Guard Air Station Houston was dispatched to the scene and safely transported the injured man to UTMB at 4:13 a.m.
“The maritime environment along the Texas coast can be a dangerous place to work. It is gratifying to be able to bring someone back to their family,” said Lt. Charlie Wilson, an MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter pilot at Air Station Houston.
