Coast Guard medevacs scuba diver

BARNEGAT, N.J. – The Coast Guard medevaced a 31-year-old woman today who was aboard a boat three miles off the coast of Barnegat.

The Coast Guard received a call at 10:54 a.m. from a crew member aboard the Dina Dee requesting medical assistance for a woman who felt sick after returning from a 75-foot scuba dive seven miles off the coast of Barnegat.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light, N.J., arrived on scene and transported the woman to Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light.

She was transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel who transferred her to a Life Flight helicopter crew.

The woman was flown to the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
