ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — The Coast Guard medevaced a crewmember from aboard the USS Jason Dunham off the North Carolina coast Wednesday evening.
At approximately 7 p.m. watchstanders from the Coast Guard 5th District Command Center received a call from the USS Jason Dunham requesting assistance in medevacing a 27-year-old male who had been experiencing chest pains.
An HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City was diverted from a patrol and arrived on scene at approximately 8 p.m.
The sailor was then flown to Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, N.C., arriving at approximately 9:45 p.m.
