Coast Guard medevacs passenger from sport-fishing vessel

Pacific Southwest Coast Guard NewsSAN DIEGO — A U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Diego helicopter crew medically evacuated a 65-year-old man after he began experiencing chest and back pain aboard a sport-fishing vessel approximately 166 miles south of the U.S.-Mexican border Friday afternoon.

The master of the San Diego-based 90-foot Polaris Supreme contacted the Coast Guard at 2:45 p.m., requesting medical attention for the passenger.

The aircrew hoisted the man to the helicopter and transported him to Sector San Diego, where he was be turned over to emergency medical personnel for further treatment.
