HOUSTON — The Coast Guard medevaced a 53-year-old man approximately 46 miles offshore of Galveston, Texas, Tuesday evening.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a request from the motor vessel Seacharm stating their chief engineer was experiencing symptoms of a heart attack and was in need of medical assistance. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac.

An Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was launched to the scene, where the helicopter crew hoisted and transferred the mariner to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Scholes International Airport in Galveston.

Weather on-scene was reported as 2-foot seas and 10-15 mph winds.
