Coast Guard medevacs man suffering with head trauma

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 50-year old male suffering from head trauma from a diving support vessel 20 miles southwest of Grand Isle, La. on Thursday.

The Coast Guard received a call from the captain of the vessel, Jose Bisso, reporting that a crewmember was in need of a medevac because he fell and injured his head. The captain also reported the crewmember was starting to experience trouble breathing. A Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew from Air Station New Orleans was launched to assist. The Dolphin crew safely hoisted and transported the man to West Jefferson Hospital.

The condition of the man is unknown.
