Coast Guard medevacs man suffering from chest pains near South Padre Island

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Coast Guard medevaced a man suffering from chest pains southeast of South Padre Island, Sunday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi received a report of a 58 year-old man suffering from chest pains aboard the Offshore Supply Vessel Carson River at 8:30 a.m. The vessel was approximately 75 nautical miles southeast of South Padre Island when the call was made.

A MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew and a HU-25 Falcon jet and crew were dispatched from Air Station Corpus Christi to conduct the medevac. The Falcon provided communications relay between the rescue helicopter, Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi, and the offshore supply vessel.

The man was airlifted to Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville for medical care. His condition is unknown.
