Coast Guard Medevacs Man Suffering Abdominal Pains

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.– A man was medevaced by the Coast Guard off the New Jersey coast after suffering abdominal pains this evening.

James Tillotson was aboard the Lisa G, an 86-foot commercial fishing vessel homeported in Cape May, N.J., when he reportedly began to feel extreme pain in his abdomen.

The crew of the Lisa G pulled up their fishing lines and began to make way back to Cape May before they called and requested Coast Guard assistance. A rescue helicopter crew was launched from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City and rendezvoused with the vessel 70 miles east of Cape May. A rescue swimmer was lowered to the deck of the Lisa G placed Tillotson in a basket and got him safely aboard the helicopter. The rescue crew took Tillotson back to Air Station Atlantic City where he was met by local EMS and taken to Mainland Hospital in Pomona, N.J.
