Coast Guard medevacs man off OSC Brutus in Gulf of Mexico

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Coast Guard crews medevaced a 67-year-old man off an offshore supply vessel about 40 miles southeast of Port O’Connor Wednesday evening.

At 7:46 p.m., the crew of the offshore supply vessel Brutus contacted Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders on VHF marine radio channel 16 to report a diabetic man aboard that was suffering significant confusion, which indicated a possible stroke.

A Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew launched at 8:28 p.m. and hoisted the man from the ship at 9:34 p.m.

At 9:57 p.m. the man was delivered to CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi — Shoreline.

The man was reported to be in critical condition.
