Coast Guard medevacs man off Galveston coast

HOUSTON- The Coast Guard medevaced a man from the Italian-flagged tank ship Mare Doricum, approximately 16 nautical miles off the Galveston coast, Thursday.

Watchstanders at Sector Houston-Galveston received a call at approximately 9:50 a.m. from the vessel’s agent reporting that a 52 year-old male crewmember was experiencing severe upper abdominal pain. A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65C Dolphin helicopter and crew was launched to the tank ship’s reported position.

The man was hoisted by the aircrew and medevaced to the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. The Coast Guard has no further information regarding his condition.
