HOUSTON — The Coast Guard medevaced a 55-year-old man off a fishing vessel 40 miles southeast of Galveston Saturday afternoon.

At 2:07 p.m., the Captain of the fishing vessel Lady Marie contacted Coast Guard Sector Houston watchstanders to report that a crew member on the vessel had suffered an eye injury due to malfunctioning machinery.

A Coast Guard Station Sabine boat crew arrived at 3:22 and transferred the man off the fishing vessel while a Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin aircrew was enroute.

The aircrew medevaced the man to University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston at 4:12 p.m.

The man’s condition is reported as stable.
