Coast Guard medevacs man off fishing boat

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 31-year-old man reportedly suffering from seizures off of a fishing vessel 35-miles south of Gulfport, Miss., in the Gulf of Mexico, Thursday.

The Coast Guard received a call at approximately 6:45 p.m., from the captain of the fishing vessel, Grand Cheniere, reporting that a crewmember was in need of a medevac. Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew to assist. The helicopter crew safely hoisted and transported the man to the West Jefferson Medical Center.

The condition of the man is unknown.
