CHARLESTON, S.C. – A Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Air Facility Charleston medically evacuated a 50-year-old male displaying symptoms of a stroke Tuesday off the coast of Edisto, S.C.
The Coast Guard was notified at 7:14 a.m. that a medical emergency had occurred aboard the 32-foot center console boat “Double Trouble” near the Edisto Sea Buoy approximately 5-miles off the coast of Edsito.
The Coast Guard rescue helicopter aircrew arrived on-scene at 8:13 a.m and deployed the Rescue Swimmer who evaluated the patient and requested a litter be deployed aboard the boat. The patient was hoisted aboard the helicopter and transported to Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston.
