Coast Guard medevacs man near Tilghman Island, Md.

BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard medevaced a 58-year-old man Monday from a sailboat near Tilghman Island.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Baltimore received a report from the sailboat Savannah Grace at approximately 6:30 p.m. Monday, stating a man aboard the boat was suffering from stroke-like symptoms.

Watchstanders from Sector Baltimore launched a 29-foot Response boat-Small II crew from Coast Guard Station Oxford to conduct a medevac.

Once the boater was aboard the RB-S II, a Tilghman Island Fire Department boat crew arrived on scene and transferred a paramedic to the RB-S II to assist.

The boater and paramedic were transported to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Tilghman on the Chesapeake.
