FORT MACON, N.C. — U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Macon crews medevaced a man Sunday near Cape Lookout Bight, near Cape Lookout.
The Coast Guard Cutter Heron received a report that a man had fallen off the back of a recreational boat, injured his head and ingested water. The man was on the beach of Lookout Bight with friends and a medevac was requested.
A 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Coast Guard Station Fort Macon launched and arrived on scene. The crew transferred the man to the Beaufort waterfront, where local EMS transferred the man to Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City.
“We’re out here to keep people as safe as possible,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Kristopher Pesnell, coxswain for the case. “With the help of the boating public working with us this Memorial Day weekend, it makes that level of safety possible.”
