Coast Guard medevacs man from tanker vessel in the Gulf of Mexico

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard medevaced a 48-year-old man reportedly experiencing chest pains from the 400-foot tanker vessel Mindanao, in the Gulf of Mexico approximately 150 nautical miles south of Venice, La., Monday.

A watchstander form the Eighth Coast Guard District received a call at approximately 11 a.m. Monday from a crewmember aboard the Mindanao reporting that a crewmember was experiencing chest pains and was in need of assistance. The Eighth Coast Guard District launched an MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to assist.

The man was medevaced and transported to Air Station New Orleans where he was met by awaiting Emergency Medical Services.
