NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a tank ship in Southwest Pass, Louisiana, Saturday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 3 a.m. of a man with appendicitis-type symptoms aboard the tank ship San Fernando.

A medevac of the man was delayed due to weather conditions.

Sector watchstanders directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans at 11:30 a.m.

The aircrew arrived on scene at noon, hoisted the man and transported him to University Hospital in stable condition.
