Coast Guard medevacs man from support ship

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard medevaced a 50-year-old man off a support ship approximately 20 miles south of the Southwest Pass in the Gulf of Mexico, Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009.

The Coast Guard received a call from the vessel Master Everett at approximately 1:30 a.m., reporting that a crewmember was suffering from chest pains and they had transported him to the support ship Q 4000, and requested a medevac.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew that arrived on scene at 2:32 a.m., safely hoisted the man into the helicopter, and transported him to West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, La.

His condition is unknown.
