Coast Guard medevacs man from shrimping boat

At 8:48 p.m. watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, received a call via VHF-FM marine radio channel 16 reporting a crewmember, aboard the shrimping boat, Katie, had suffered severe hand injuries and needed emergency medical attention.

A flight surgeon was briefed and recommended the injured man be medevaced.

At 9:18 p.m. an MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter  crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, arrived on scene, hoisted the man and transported him to Tampa General Hospital.

His condition was unknown at the time.
