Coast Guard medevacs man from seismic ship

HOUSTON – The Coast Guard medevaced a 40-year-old man from a seismic survey ship approximately 31 miles south of Freeport, Texas, Friday.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston received a call at 6:59 p.m. Friday from the captain of the Miss Cordelia. The captain reported that a passenger had become dizzy and unresponsive and was in need of immediate medical attention.

The Coast Guard launched a rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Houston to assist. The rescue helicopter crew arrived on scene, safely hoisted and transported the man to Freeport were local EMS was waiting.

The man was reported to be in serious condition at the time.
