Coast Guard Medevacs Man From Research Vessel

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 54-year-old male from a research vessel about 150 miles south of Terrebone, La. early this morning.

A watchstander at the Coast Guard District Eight Command Center received a call at approximaterly 3:15 a.m. from Acadien Air Ambulance reporting that a crewman working on the research vessel Fairfield New Venture was experiencing chest pains.

Coast Guard Aviation Training Center, Mobile, Ala., launched an HU-25 Falcon rescue jet crew and Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched a HH-65C rescue helicopter crew to pick up the man and transport him safely to Belle Chase where he is scheduled to be transported by EMS to West Jefferson Hospital for treatment.
