NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard medevaced a 30-year-old man from a research vessel approximately 100 miles south of Pensacola, Fla., Tuesday, April 7, 2009.
The Coast Guard received a call from the Norwegian research vessel Bos Artic at approximately 5:51 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, reporting that a crewmember was suffering from an arm injury and requested a medevac.
Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala., launched an HH-65C rescue helicopter and crew and an HU-25 Falcon jet and crew that arrived on scene at approximately 8:40 a.m. Following a successful hoist into the helicopter, the crew returned to ATC Mobile at approximately 10:00 p.m. where the crewmember was transported by ambulance to Providence Medical in Mobile, Ala.
His condition is unknown.
