Coast Guard medevacs man from oil rig platform

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard medevaced a 29-year-old man from an oil rig platform approximately 75 miles southeast of New Orleans today.

The Coast Guard received a call from the oil rig platform Hercules 204 at 11:24 a.m. Monday, reporting that a crewmember was suffering from chest pain and requested a medevac.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an MH-65C Dolphin helicopter and crew and successfully lifted the crewmember into the helicopter and then transported him to West Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Marrero, La.

His condition is unknown.
