MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevaced an 81-year-old man from the cruise ship, Norwegian Getaway, Monday approximately 44 miles southeast of Marathon.
The crew of the Norwegian Getaway notified Coast Guard 7th District watchstanders at approximately 11:50 p.m. Sunday of an 81-year-old man aboard the cruise ship suffering from heart attack-like symptoms.
Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Key West 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew who arrived on scene, embarked the individual and transferred him ashore to awaiting local emergency medical services. He has since been transferred to Lower Keys Medical Center.
