NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 76-year-old male aboard the cruise ship Norwegian Dawn approximately 10 nautical miles south of Southwest Pass, Louisiana, Monday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report at approximately 12:00 a.m. that a passenger had been suffering from a heart condition and flu-like symptoms.
Watchstanders from Coast Guard Station Venice were notified and launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew.
The boatcrew arrived on scene at 7:00 a.m. and transported the patient, the patient’s wife, and ship’s nurse to Station Venice where they were met by local emergency medical services.
The patient’s condition was unknown.
