Coast Guard medevacs man from cruise ship Carnival Dream

Coast Guard Response Boat-MediumNEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 57-year-old man from the cruise ship Carnival Dream near Southwest Pass, Louisiana, Saturday.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a call from the cruise ship Carnival Dream at 12:18 p.m. that the passenger was suffering from signs of acute pulmonary edema.

Watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Station Venice Response Boat-Medium crew.

The boatcrew arrived on scene at 11:45 p.m.and removed the patient from the Carnival Dream and transferred him to EMS at Station Venice. He was then transferred to West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, Louisiana.

The passenger was reported to be in stable condition.
