Coast Guard medevacs man from commercial tank ship 100 miles southwest of Tampa, Fla.

d7CLEARWATER, Fla. – An injured man was medevaced from a commercial tank ship 100 miles southwest of Tampa, Florida, Sunday morning.

At approximately 7:50 p.m. Saturday, watchstanders from the Coast Guard 7th District command center in Miami, received a call from a crewmember aboard the commercial tank ship, Cielo di Guangzhou, stating a 43-year-old man had suffered a leg injury and was in need of emergency medical assistance.

A Coast Guard flight surgeon was notified and reccomended the man be medevaced.

At approximately 6:40 a.m. an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater arrived on scene, hoisted the man and transported him to Tampa General Hospital for further medical care.
