ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 56-year-old man 46 miles west of Charlotte Harbor, Florida, Tuesday evening.
At 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a call via VHF-FM marine radio channel 16 reporting the captain aboard the fishing vessel, Nancy Lou, was experiencing severe chest pains.
Also, two crewmembers aboard the 50-foot commercial fishing boat requested emergency medical attention.
A Coast Guard flight surgeon was briefed and recommended the 56-year-old man be medically evacuated.
An MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Florida, arrived on scene at 10:08 p.m., hoisted the man and transported him to Tampa General Hospital.
The man was last reported in stable condition.
On scene weather conditions were reported at 25-knot winds with 6 to 10-foot seas.
