NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a man who was fishing 20 nautical miles south of Destin,Friday.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders received a request for medical assistance from the catamaran Pecan at 8:04 a.m. for a 65-year-old man who had passed out and regained consciousness while fishing.
Sector Mobile directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Destin 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew with two EMS passengers aboard.
The boatcrew arrived on scene at 8:43 a.m. and successfully transferred the man in stable condition to local EMS who transported him to Fort Walton Medical Center.
